It was only a day after I received the Razorworld's package in the mail that I got to it and used their shaving kit. The five blade razor felt light in my hand, a direct contrast to the Dollar Shave Club razor but it felt more comfortable than the Aussie Shave handle. I must admit I was a bit unsure as I attached the cartridge to the handle as the "construction" process didn't seem as intuitive as the other company's blades. However, my men's intuition proved a winner (finally!!) and the cartridge clicked into place with a reassuringly "clack" noise. The addition of the cartridge changed the weight and feel of the razor, making it more comfortable in the hand.
I recently received my awesome bag of goodies from Bad Hair Boy and have been motivated to try the Italian Proraso Shaving Cream I'd purchased. However, to keep that self-illusion of trying to maintain a similar baseline between blades, I stayed with the Trishave 3 in 1 shaving product for the first RazorWorld shave.
I have to say, and I hope I am not harping on the topic, that the whole razor felt noticeably less substantial than my previous set-up. So, it was with trepidation that I pulled the blade across my face for the first time. The sensation was a surprise. There was a sense of "this isn't as good as Dollar Shave Club" but this was the first pass only. Then, something happened, and I am not sure what it was. The shave got better with each pass. It seemed to chuckle at my facial hair, like a Superhero laughing at a human that is threatening them.
The shave was fast and easy. I was surprised how efficiently the Razorworld product had handled the shave but, more importantly, how good the shave felt. My face felt clean and smooth. While I thought I felt some initial scraping when I started with the blade, this turned out to be user error- or more correctly a learning curve. Let's face it, how many times have I had to adjust my shaving technique over the past 4 months!!!. And this is no different. Every time you change brands, you need to adjust how you shave. And adjust I did, quite rapidly.
And then I went to trim my sideburns. Yep. That was when I gave into the realisation that there was no trimmer blade. Nowhere. Believe me, I tried. I flipped bits up, turned bits over, pushed bits here and there, all in an attempt to uncover the hidden trimmer blade. It wasn't hidden- it was non-existent. What a pest. Back to using my old Gillette Twin Blade to tidy up. Shame, after such a good shave to be let down by a lack of functionality.
So, after the first shave, my summary is that the shave was excellent and, in my initial flush of first-use I'll add that it was probably on a par with Dollar Shave Club, and well above Aussie Shave. However, for the money I paid, I would have thought a trimmer blade would be a fait de complete. Alas not. Let's see how the next shaves go.....
Razor blades should be used careful if you are shaving for the first time ... Nice info ... thank you for sharing your experience...
