Introducing RazorWorld.

It's a hard act to follow. Let's be honest, I did really like the Dollar Shaver Club razors and their customer service was pretty darn good as well. So, poor RazorWorld was up against it.

The shopping experience with RazorWorld was okay, and not too much different from most of the other players in their field, although the number of available razors was a lot less. Yes, the options were smaller and the prices.... were larger. Huh?

The options are a selection or razors for men and for women. then, a choice between either 3 or 5 blades. The product's photograph on the webpage makes the 5 blade model initially look like an Aussie Shave product, however closer inspection cleared up my initial surprise. What I could not see was any form of a trimmer. "There must be one somewhere" I thought, "Perhaps the photos are not showing a thin strip of razor".

It is important to note that (my perception of the) Razorworld philosophy is that the handle is given to you by the other companies- you pay for the handle here. However, even after that, their blades are still a tad more expensive. I must admit that after coming off the Dollar Shave Club experience, I took a good long look at these prices and wondered if I was being a numb-skull for buying from these guys.

Well, I did purchase from them. As I implied above, the ordering and check out process was not dissimilar to most other on-line purchases I've made. Notably, they take Pay Pal payments.

A bag of RazorWorld goodness!
I ordered on Monday. The product was shipped on Tuesday and on Thursday, I collected it from the post box. The unassuming, dull off-white toughened envelope gave little hint of what was inside and it was only the return address that made me go "Ah ha!". I ripped the package open and pulled out a neat fabric bag. The bag has a line of sewing down its middle, thereby separating the bag into two compartments. In one side was my new razor handle and in the other side, four razor cartridges spilled into my hand. There was an invoice and a small square of coloured pale explaining the best way to maintain the blade sharpness.

The other companies I have used since my shaving expedition started have included something to welcome you to their company. Usually a little card. Not much but it was something (I posted a blog about twee membership cards a few months ago where I talk about this). So, I was a bit surprised about the lack of customer engagement of the company. So, I must admit that even before I use the blade, I was thinking;
      1) limited choice,
      2) expensive and
      3) I am just another customer, while other companies want
           me to feel like an important customer.

Please do not think I was being precious but I was thinking "I hope they give a good shave because, so far, a shopping experience at Coles Supermarket would be more engaging.
