- Select a company
- Send money.
- Get razors.
- Repeat.
For no particular reason, I decided to give AussieShave.com a go first. Before going ahead, I wanted to ask some questions about how often I can get a delivery (Due to my not-thick hair growth I wanted to get less deliveries than monthly), as well as availability of extra blades. So, I wrote a quick email to "Bruce", the generic contact person at the company. 15 minutes after I sent my email, I received a jovial reply from Bruce, answering my questions and providing some different options to my enquiry. It was all friendly but you can hear the business-approach behind the reply. (Not a complaint, just an observation). Bruce suggested I select "The Supreme" razor, based on the blades I had been using.
The next day, I took the leap and signed on board with AussieShave.com. Make no mistake, I remained a tad sceptical about the razors, service, etc. I would not have "joined" if there wasn't an opt out at any time option. This was going to be the start of an interesting experience.
It seemed like two weeks until the package arrived. A smallish padded post-pack that I ripped open with enthusiasm. Inside was a set of three 5-blade cartridges, a handle and a welcome postcard, welcoming me and declaring me a Legendary Member. Cute.
The bright orange blades were a surprise, as was the construct. The blades actually inserted into the handle, not clip on to the end like most cartridges I have used before.
At a later point, I dropped the razor and the cartridge popped off the end. It revealed the two-piece construction of the cartridge . There was the cartridge itself. Then the joining piece- this has plastic grips on one end to hold the shaving cartridge and a connector on the other end to click into the handle. It is a neat design. The hold thing weighs about 27g, which is quite light compared to my Schick razor (at 42g).
