I am starting to have a bit of a love-hate relationship with my Dollar Shaver Executive blade. Let me explain. Better still, I will start by re-stating that I still think the Dollar Shaver blade is pretty darn good and I was truly disappointed when I cancelled my subscription. But with all the subscription blades out there, I have to move on to continue my reviews. But more on that later.
I am drawing to the end of the use of the third blade. There is no doubt that the blades are good. No, wait. Let me paraphrase Mike, the Dollar Shaver Front Man. The blades are effing great. They slide across the face nicely, capturing the facial hair and leaving a nice finish. But it is more than that. This is one of the few blades that hasn't caused me irritation from having too close a shave. Perhaps it is luck, perhaps it is the blade, but I have come away from my shave feeling... well... good.
So, what is my problem? I will say Dollar Shaver blades are great until the cows come home. Except for one little aspect. Most blades (over three blades) are hard for me to navigate to get that (oft mentioned) under the nose bit. It's only a couple of whiskers but I notice it. Still the head of the blade is too big to get in there properly. This is also the case with the Dollar Shaver Exec blade. It's pretty darn big.
So, what about the trimmer blade. That trimmer blade is quite awesome. The sideburns are cleaned up nicely, the edges are fantastic. The bit that is not- the dog-gone under nose bit. No matter how I shave that pesky piece of skin, it never quite comes out right. Often, the Dollar Shaver trimmer has left a small slice mark.
So, I have to be honest and say that it may not be the blade (I am sure the Dollar Shaver people are breathing a sigh of relief to hear that!!!!!). It may be my technique. But it just seems to happen so often. And while I have been accused of lacking learning behaviour (hey, I have a Y chromosome!), I find it hard to believe it is all my technique causing the sub-nasal assault.
So, is that why I have cancelled my Dollar Shaver account? Nope. I am really happy with the overall Dollar Shaver experience. However, it is time to move onto the next provider of mail-order razor blades. Thanks, Dollar Shaver. It has been fun and leaving you is such sweet sorrow.
We are sorry to see you go. Appreciate the feedback on the trimmer blade and look forward to welcoming you back.
